To kick off our Athlete Interview series, it is my pleasure to interview former fellow Trojan Jordan Campbell. An exceptional talent and hard worker, Jordan is the epitome of an Outlier as he surrounds his entire life by wellness. Multiple daily workouts, rehab treatment, healthy eating habits, good faith, education, and balancing it all out with a bit of family and fun, with a work ethic like his, Jordan is next in line for NFL greatness.
History:
A high school All-American, Jordan came into his collegiate career with high expectations of having an immediate impact on the collegiate scene. However, like most freshman's, he was redshirted and forced to wait. Beginning his redshirt freshman year, and the remainder of his time as a Man of Troy, he competed for playing time, but his true talents on the field were never fully showcased during his time there. Due to all the turmoil plaguing various USC teams during the 2010 year, Jordan saw the NCAA regulated "free transfer policy" as a "blessing in disguise", and an opportunity to take his stronger and more developed mental and physical game to the University of Louisville. A brief career at UofL, Jordan again faced set backs and made the wise decision to move back west to care for his family. Taking on the responsibility of caring for his Grandmother, Jordan never stopped living a healthy life. He took the off-field education that he gained at both institutions, and with his older brother, created the company " Circle of Success", or "COS"
http://www.circleofsuccesscalifornia.com/.
The concept behind the company, is embracing a lifestyle of having a circle of success surrounding you, and the company continues to spread positive messages throughout the fashion, entertainment, and athletic industries.
Where is Jordan Now?
With the success of his company skyrocketing, Jordan is now hungrier than ever to get back to his linebacker roots. A more humble and determined man, Jordan WILL be a top pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. What makes me so confident? Hearing the story of a friend, and fellow Trojan athlete as a changed man. The ups and downs he has faced both on and off the field have made him grow. Now at 24 years young, Jordan is living a lifestyle that will ensure success comes to him, and not the other way around. Now playing for "the worst division 2 school" New Mexico Highlands, while others thought they were doing him the favor of letting him continue to play collegiate football, Jordan again saw this as a blessing in disguise. Returning to the base of fitness he grew up on training with older family members, Jordan cross trains, and prepares his body for the next level. "Going to the big Division 1 schools is where I became less of an athlete, training to just be Big, strong, and fast and being stuck in a football, lift weights mentality was not the best thing for me". With an open minded attitude, Jordan began crossfit and UFC style training, with the goals of improving all the things that had previously been overlooked by D1 trainers. "Lets see if I can get my balance better, my core better, and I just took on a new challenge with everything that I never did. It was fun and competitive for me". For all those who have seen Jordan's famous YouTube videos, most would say "fun" is a crazy choice of words, for the freakishly intense training he has proved himself capable, and it is evident that Jordan and his circle of success are "eatin". With the New Mexico team built around his determination, experience and talent, Jordan and his teammates are racking up pre season honors and the most attention they have received in years. For starters, Jordan became the first ever pre season All-American from NMHU. If that wasn't enough, several football teams including the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants flew out to see the superstar at his junior pro day. With their national attention and recognition increasing by day, The New Mexico Highland Cowboys are sure to have eyes on them this upcoming season as they push towards the national championships. Off the Field
Jordan is clearly and exceptional, elite athlete. However, it is what he does off the football field that makes him an Outlier. Family, and faith orientated Jordan practices what he preaches by having a circle of success. One of the things we stress the most about being an Outlier is incorporating every element of wellness into your daily lifestyle, one which includes social wellness. "I used to be that guy, out in Hollywood that knew everybody and all the parties, however all of the connections that I made while at USC and being connected to the right people, gave me a better network for the future. But now I don't see anyone, its all about my circle of success and those in my camp". That network has surely helped carry Jordan on the right path, however his new attitude with his tight nit success group is proving to be more beneficial for the athletes overall wellness than his previous lifestyle. He has shown and proven that no matter what level of athletics you are on, it is important to constantly build your success circle, take care of family, as well as build healthy professional connections. " Its funny because now that I'm not chasing the perks of success and just focusing on my dream, everything is coming along with it."
